Winterization GuidelinesUpdated 10 days ago
To prevent freeze damage, follow these guidelines based on outdoor temperatures:
When ambient temperatures are below 32°F and unit is not in use:
Power down and disconnect the hoses and the chiller.
Drain all water from the chiller and hoses.
Move the chiller and hoses indoors to a temperature-controlled area.
When ambient temperatures are between 32°F – 14°F and unit is still in use:
Set the water temperature on the chiller to 41°F or higher.
The unit must remain running at all times, it cannot be turned off or scheduled to shut off in these conditions.
When ambient temperature are 14°F or lower:
Do not operate the chiller.
Power down and disconnect the hoses and the chiller.
Drain all water from the chiller and hoses.
Move the unit and hoses indoors to a temperature-controlled area.
Additional Tips:
Ensure insulated sleeves are on and fully cover the inline hose strainer and filter canister.
When ambient temperatures approach 32°F, keeping the unit running is crucial, shutting it off can cause internal freezing and damage.
For best results, use an HVAC or vacuum system to remove any remaining water before storage.
⚠️ Important Notice:
To maintain proper function and warranty coverage of your chiller, you must follow all winterization and temperature-related guidelines, including proper draining, moving the unit indoors when required, running continuously, and using insulated sleeves. Failure to follow these guidelines, or operating the chiller below recommended temperatures, can result in internal freezing damage and will void the warranty.
