To keep your Viking Gen1 system running efficiently and ensure clean, safe plunges, monthly maintenance is essential. This quick process will extend the life of your chiller and keep your water crystal clear.

What You Need to Do Each Month
Before performing any maintenance, please unplug the chiller and close the grey valves on the Viking.

  1. Replace the Water Filter (on the back of the chiller)
The filter helps capture fine particles and contaminants from your water. Replacing it monthly ensures optimal water quality and protects your chiller's internal components.

**After replacing the filter, you’ll need to ensure the filter canister is properly primed. This can be done by either pressing the red button on top of the filter canister or slightly unscrewing the blue canister until water begins to overflow. To complete this step successfully, make sure the bottom grey valve on the Viking is open and the chiller is turned off.**

  2. Clean the Inline Hose Strainer
This strainer collects larger debris that may enter the water line. Cleaning it regularly prevents flow issues and reduces stress on the pump.

  3. Drain and Refill the Viking Vessel
We recommend draining and refilling your plunge at least once per month.

Pro Tips

  • Always power off the chiller then close the grey valves before removing any filters or opening the hose line.

  • Check the clarity of your water —if anything seems off, don't wait until the end of the month to do a full clean.

  • Have extra filters on hand to avoid delays in replacing them.

Proper maintenance = better performance + longer lifespan for your chiller.
