How Long Should I Keep My Viking Gen 2 Chiller Running?Updated 12 days ago

Our Viking Gen 2 chillers are designed with a powerful pump built to run continuously, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. This constant circulation helps maintain optimal water temperature and water quality in your cold plunge vessel.

Scheduling Through the Nordic Flow App
If you prefer, you can set a custom running schedule using the Nordic Flow app. This allows you to tailor chiller operation around your daily routine and energy preferences.

What to Keep in Mind
While scheduling the chiller to run only during specific times is possible, it’s important to remember that when water sits still in the vessel for extended periods, debris and impurities can accumulate more quickly. This buildup can cause your water filter and inline hose strainer to clog faster, which may impact performance and require more frequent maintenance.

Pro Tip for Scheduled Use
If you choose to run the chiller on a schedule, we recommend setting it to turn on at least one hour before your intended plunge time. This ensures the water is properly filtered, cleaned, and cooled beforehand for the best experience.

Important Outdoor Winter Operation Note
If your Viking is set up outdoors and ambient temperatures are between 32°F and 14°F, the chiller must not be scheduled to turn off or be powered off at any point, unless you are fully disconnecting and bringing the chiller indoors. Powering the unit down in these temperatures can lead to internal freezing and cracking, which may cause damage and could void the warranty.

When ambient temperatures fall below 14°F, the chiller and hoses must be powered down, disconnected, fully drained, and placed indoors in a temperature-regulated environment.
