FL / CLN Codes ExplainedUpdated a day ago

If your Viking Gen 2 Chiller displays FL or CLN codes, it indicates there is a flow issue or a component needs cleaning or replacement.

Common Causes:

  • Dirty water filter (located on the back of the chiller)

  • Dirty inline hose strainer

  • Air trapped in the system

  • Dislodged O-ring

Before Proceeding with Deeper Troubleshooting, Please Ensure:

  • The water filter has been replaced recently

  • The inline hose strainer has been cleaned

Troubleshooting Steps:

  1. Check the Flow Meter

    • Clean the flow meter as needed

  2. Secure the Filter Canister

    • Make sure the filter canister is properly attached to the chiller.

    • Thread the canister slowly and gently to avoid cross-threading.

    • Use the provided wrench from the fitting bag to tighten securely.

  3. Inspect the Inline Hose Strainer

    • Verify the strainer is positioned straight and screwed on tightly.

    • Check for any visible air bubbles in the strainer or hoses.

  4. Check All O-Rings

    • Ensure white rubber O-rings are in place on all hoses and the inline hose strainer.

    • It’s common for the chiller-side inline hose strainer O-ring to become dislodged.

    • Replacement O-rings are provided; consult pages 22 and 23 of your manual for their correct placement.

  5. Re-Orient the Hoses

    • Remove any twists, loops, kinks, or upward angles in the hoses between the tub and chiller.

    • Confirm that the 90-degree angled ends of the hoses are connected to the tub properly.

  6. Release Trapped Air

    • Turn off the chiller.

    • Remove the flow meter to release any trapped air inside the system.

    • Reinstall the flow meter securely.
