Maintenance GuideUpdated a day ago

To keep your Viking Gen 2 system running efficiently and ensure clean, safe plunges, monthly maintenance is essential. This quick process will extend the life of your chiller and keep your water crystal clear.

What You Need to Do Each Month
Before performing any maintenance, please unplug the chiller and close the grey valves on the Viking.

  1. Replace the Water Filter (on the back of the chiller)
The filter helps capture fine particles and contaminants from your water. Replacing it monthly ensures optimal water quality and protects your chiller's internal components.
    Steps to replace the filter:

    1. Unscrew the filter canister located on the back of the chiller.

    2. Carefully dump out any water remaining inside the canister.

    3. Remove the old paper filter completely and replace it with a new one.

    4. Screw the canister back securely onto the chiller, ensuring a tight seal.

  2. Clean the Inline Hose Strainer
This strainer collects larger debris that may enter the water line. Cleaning it regularly prevents flow issues and reduces stress on the pump.
Steps to clean the inline hose strainer:

    1. Unscrew the clear gasket of the inline hose strainer.

    2. Remove the metal strainer from inside.

    3. Thoroughly clean both the gasket and the metal strainer, ensuring all debris is removed.

    4. Securely replace the metal strainer back into the housing.

    5. Screw the inline hose strainer back on as straight and tight as possible to prevent leaks.

  3. Drain and Refill the Viking Vessel
We recommend draining and refilling your plunge at least once per month.

Pro Tips

  • Always power off the chiller then close the grey valves before removing any filters or opening the hose line.

  • Check the clarity of your water —if anything seems off, don't wait until the end of the month to do a full clean.

  • Have extra filters on hand to avoid delays in replacing them.

Proper maintenance = better performance + longer lifespan for your chiller.
